Antique George Washington books come together in this three-volume collection spanning the Victorian era through the early 20th century. What makes this set special is the wonderful connection between George Washington, Mount Vernon, America's First Ladies, and Revolutionary-era history—all wrapped in beautifully aged clothbound covers.
The collection includes Mary Stuart Smith's 1889 Lang Syne; or, The Wards of Mount Vernon, Lydia L. Gordon's From Lady Washington to Mrs. Cleveland, and Wayne Whipple's illustrated The Story of Young George Washington. Together, they make a wonderfully layered little collection of American history.
Why I Chose This Piece
I love how naturally these three books belong together. The warm, timeworn cloth bindings are beautiful on a shelf, but it's their shared connection to Washington and early American history that makes the grouping feel especially collected and intentional.

A Little Background
These books offer three very different windows into early American history. Lang Syne was described by its own 1889 publisher as weaving Washington and other Revolutionary figures into its story while devoting considerable attention to the women of the Revolution—making it an especially fitting companion to Gordon's book on America's First Ladies and Whipple's later illustrated biography of young Washington.
